Honor Troupe Recognition

The OEdTA Board of Directors is implementing a new program this year known as Honor Troupes. This is an opportunity for Thespian Troupes in Ohio to be recognized for the work they do that helps to make the troupe successful. It is not a competition between Troupes, it is more of a challenge to the individual troupes to work toward achieving gold, silver, or bronze status. The information and application forms are available for download here. The timeframe for this annual award spans the entire school year, so it is important to start collecting evidence of your events and activities now. The application for 2008-2009 recognition will be due by the date of the 2009 Leadership Conference. If you have any questions about this new recognition, please contact Scott Wilson, swilson@ohedta.org.

Out with the old website, In with the new

Out with the old website, In with the new

Over the past few years, the Ohio Educational Theatre Association's organizational needs had begun to outgrow their website. This year there has been a complete redesign of their website and the board has tons of new and exciting ideas for this school year. With new ideas comes improvement, starting with a new website.

proVanceTek has worked with the Ohio Educational Theatre Association to completely overhaul the visual design of the website and its functionality. We're striving to appeal to the Theatre students, teachers, and parents of Ohio schools. We've created a design that incorporates an easy-on-the-eyes color scheme and a content management system that allows Ohio EdTA board members easily edit the site's content. We're striving to move from a Web 2.0 mindset this year to working towards the concept of Web 3.0 for next year - we have lots of ideas.

The new release of the website utilizes the Drupal Content Management System which is more widely used for corporate websites that manage lots of data and websites that need to incorporate lots of web applications. The former format of the website was limiting when it comes to some of the cool features we're planning on adding to our site. This year we hope to implement online registration for event, multimedia, and much more!

We hope you like our new design and the features we'll be adding. Stay tuned for more exciting improvements!
